Stonehorse Beaded Feathers...
FEATHERS have always held a special place in Sacred Ceremonies in many cultures, for eons.
The Sacredness of the feather reamains to this day. From the tiniest feather of a Hummingbird, to the
mighty Eagle or Condor, all feathers have their own specialness. Headdresses have been adorned with feathers,
as well as fans, clothing, bedding, and weapons such as arrows or lances; even horse in battle were adorned.
Some, such as the Eagle feather, were earned for bravery, strength, honor or committment. Some, painted or cut
a certain way, carried a title or a story. The Winged Nation has always held an honor in Sacred Ceremonies
through continued use of the feather, wheher it is a single feather or many. They are honore din this way.
Often, a single feather is used in prayer time, or to smudge with. The beadwork is a special adornment of
the feather, done lovingly and with prayers. A single bead, misplaced or in the wrong coordinated color
is called a Spirit Bead, or a Ghost bead, and is to remind us that we are not perfect. These feathers may be
used to smudge, to pray with, or for deoration of the self, horse mane or home--to remind us that Creator's
winged ones are a special part of the circle of life.
Let your soul be as light as a feather.
There is something alive in a feather,
The power of it is perhaps in its dream of sky
Currents of air, and the silence of it's creation.
It knows the inside of clouds.
