Healing the Earth/Ourselves Newsletter April 2008
Vol. 8 No. 4

Greetings! Osiyo!

A Wonderful ‘Building’ Year Unfolding!

By Jim PathFinder Ewing (Nvnehi Awatisgi)

What a wonderful year is unfolding!

It certainly has offered its challenges, like any birthing year.

(The numerology of 2008 is 10: Manifestation, empowerment!)

As I write this, the backyard of our new places is muddy, soupy mess!

The septic system has been temperamental, sickly even, since we moved in, and workers have been digging. (Note: We are in need of the donation of a Port-o-Potty or Port-o-San, or any used commercial relief station that someone might be through with or not want. Our septic system out in the country here is not up to the task of handling visitors. If you have one to give or are willing to donate one, please write Waya: bisonsmile@bellsouth.net).

We’ve hard strong tornados move through, and we thank the beautiful people who have written to make sure we are OK. Yes, we’re doing fine! The storms went to the north and the south of us, sparing our little hilltop and village. It was interesting to see clouds moving north and south at the same time, however! From our vantage atop the hill, we can see the stars at night like they are there for the grasping, the clouds seem like friends who come to visit, and the sun seems to come down and walk among us. It is truly beautiful, and we are blessed.

We are, however, still putting things together.

This has been a building or perhaps rebuilding, certainly an “unfolding” year for us!

Since we have had monthly Drum Circle ceremonies since 2000, our more intermittent schedule has been something of a relief, even if we have been constantly working, building and rebuilding here.

We are putting in gardens: a huge four-wheel tractor belonging to a friend is bogged down in the 3-acre bottoms below us as I write, the mud having overcome its gang of disc harrow. Until it dries out, and we can plant there, we’ll have that portion of the property unusable. But we plan to plant watermelons there, which still has a time before planting time. We also plan to grow sugar cane down there to make our own sugar and molasses.

Behind the house, we have two gardens waiting to dry out; one for tomatoes and other traditional row crops and another by the ceremonial grounds for sacred herbs. We’ll plant the “three sisters” of corn, squash and beans by the ceremonial grounds, too. But that’s on hold for the weather, also.

Annette and our friend Sharon are doing all these agricultural things, which are Spirit-based and organic. We hope that will someday sustain us, along with the books and ceremonies. We really are forging a new life here. (To keep track of the gardens and fields, see the blog; as soon as we can raise some money for a new digital camera, we’ll put photos up. The old one has grown out of focus.)

Drum Circle

The next Medicine Wheel Drum Circle will be a work day on Earth Day weekend April 19.

Earth Day is the 22nd, but we’ll be drumming for the Earth at some point during the day.

We will be moving the tipi from the old ceremonial grounds about a mile from here to the new ceremonial grounds behind the house on Saturday, April 19, and volunteers are welcome. Plan to arrive after noon. We’ll drum at some point after the work is done. You may recall Zen Master Wu Li’s advice: “Before enlightenment chop wood and carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.” So, we will Drum when it’s time to drum, and work when it’s time to work, and neither maybe without the other. We will send a voice for the Earth Mother and all beings, on our path, chopping wood, hauling water, moving the tipi. :-)

So, we’ll know how many and whom to expect and when, and for directions to our new place, please RSVP Waya at: bisonsmile@bellsouth.net

You will note in this newsletter that our friend Bennie Blue Thunder LeBeau has several Medicine Wheel ceremonies upcoming. We will be doing Bear Dance during the Solstice ceremony, and honoring the Earth here, for those who cannot make it to his location.

Bear Dance

Awakening the Bears went wonderfully once we got things together at Easter. We had to build a new Sweat Lodge (Asi/Inipi) which took some time, care and effort to ensure it was done right. The ceremonial grounds are still coming together (I just planted it in Bermuda grass and clover to make it softer on the feet!). Much brush has been cleared to make way for people – my brush pile is now taller than I am, about 8 feet tall, and about 30 yards long …. And growing, with much more to go! But it will be used, as compost and for the Sacred Fire, to warm people’s hearts and heat the grandfathers. Nothing is wasted here; everything that can be is recycled.

Our next Bear Dance will be at Buffalo, Texas, in May.

The next Bear Dance here – mark your calendar! – will be for the 6th Annual Solstice and World Soul Retrieval Daylong Ceremonies at Lena on Saturday, June 21. Plan to spend a wonderful day in the country! We’ll have more on it in upcoming newsletters.

Mississippi Bears Tentative Schedule:

May 24 – Green Corn Festival, Buffalo, Texas.

June 21 – 6th Annual Summer Solstice & World Soul Retrieval Day at Lena

Nov. 8 (or 15) – Put Bears to Bed, Lena.

There may be more dates added; keep watch on the Events page of the Web site.

We will also be having Asi/Inipi (sweat lodge) here, after the lodge is established, and will resume Drum Circles once we have things set here, also. Right now, we’re sort of still in transition.

Whoever wishes to come is welcome. There is no charge for ceremony, of course. Bring food to share. Donations are gratefully accepted. No Drugs or Alcohol. All of our ceremonies are family events. Children (under parental control!) are welcome. For more information and directions, write Waya at bisonsmile@bellsouth.net

Celestial Happenings

By Allison Rae

Copyright 2008 Allison Rae/www.StarPriestess.com; used by permission

The Aries New Moon on April 5 seeds the awakening consciousness of the first Wesak Full Moon two weeks later. A cardinal sign, Aries is initiating and assertive. This is a perfect time for a big new beginning.

Meanwhile, Pluto, the Transformer, makes an about-face in early April, moving from grounded Capricorn to the higher cosmic vibrations of Sagittarius, and back, in a retrograde transit that lasts five months.

This year we have two Full Moons in the sign of Scorpio, which means, essentially, two Wesak Moons. Something magical is afoot. With two Full Moons in the same sign, the energy and field of impact are greatly magnified.

The late Torkum Saraydarian explained the "double-moon" effect this way: "The first full moon challenges our personality qualities. The second full moon challenges our soul qualities. The period in between can be a tremendously rich period of growth, expansion, healing and turning our life around to become more purposeful and soul directed."

Now layer in Pluto's retrograde motion during this time, and we have a supreme opportunity to uproot longstanding karmic patterns and accelerate our transformation into self-realized divine beings. Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, plays a starring role, ratcheting up the cosmic energy to peak intensity.

Pluto Retrograde - April 2-September 8

This is the last hurrah in Pluto's historic passage back and forth across the Galactic Center. The journey began in December 2006 when Pluto aligned with the Galactic Center at 27 degrees Sagittarius and continued in 2007 with two more exact conjunctions. Although Pluto made an entree into Capricorn earlier this year, he's about to station retrograde and travel "backward" (from our vantage point on Earth) into late Sagittarius, very close to the degree of the Galactic Center, before turning direct again and moving fully into Capricorn for the next 15 years.

When the Lord of the Underworld aligns with the massive star- and planet-making black hole at the center of the Milky Way, changes are deep, fast, furious and long-lasting. It may not feel like it, but all Heaven in breaking loose on Earth. During this retrograde phase, we have another chance for Divine Love to emerge as the dark recesses of the individual and collective psyche are purged of illusion - the self-limiting thoughts, beliefs, programs and addictions that have no place in an enlightened future.

Two Wesak Moons!

Scorpio/Taurus Full Moon #1 - April 20 - 3:25 AM PDT; 6:25 AM EDT; 11:25 AM GMT

Scorpio/Taurus Full Moon #2 - May 19/20 - 7:11 PM PDT May 19; 10:11 PM EDT May 19; 3:11 AM GMT May 20

On April 20, a Full Moon occurs in the first degree of Scorpio. The second Wesak Moon happens 29 days later, in the last degree of Scorpio. Life as we know it could completely turn around somewhere between Point A and Point B. In the relentlessly transformative sign of Scorpio, the Moon's rays dig deep to illuminate what's been held in the subconscious, both individually and collectively.

In Tibetan Buddhism, Wesak celebrates the birth, death and enlightenment of the Buddha. Clearly, Tibet will be in the world spotlight at this lunation, as Buddhists and many others around the world celebrate the lunar holy day. In the esoteric teachings rooted in Buddhist and Vedic traditions, Wesak Festival is the second of the three great spring lunar festivals, a focal point for humanity to receive the cosmic energies of enlightenment.

Wesak is traditionally a time for planetary servers around the world to gather in meditation, creating a vessel to receive the powerful spiritual energies directed to Earth through the gateway of Shambala. As the time draws near, we'll share ideas for observing the Wesak Moon with ritual, prayer and meditation.

Atlanta Georgia & Uluru, Australia Medicine Wheel Ceremony
May 17 & 18th, 2008
Stone Mountain, Atlanta Georgia & Uluru or Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, Australia

Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, Australia

Healing Mother Earth Ceremonies
We are calling out to all fellow visionaries and peacekeepers from every walk of life and every nation, to join us and BECOME Earth healers! The ancient prophecies of the Indigenous Nations reveal that this is the time to act, our planet is dying. The pollution of our air and water, the toxins in our soil, our diminishing natural resources, have all caused an imbalance on this planet that is rapidly spiraling out of control! You ask, what can I do to stop it? I am only one person. Please, consider the combined power of
many.
Within us all lays the miracle of the rebirth of our planet! Imagine multiplying this miracle by the participation of millions...A simultaneous medicine wheel ceremony is being planned for Stone Mountain in Atlanta, GA, and Ayer's Rock (Uluru, Kata Tjuta National Park) in Northern Territory, central Australia; May 17th and 18th, 2008. These two mountains are on opposite ends of Mother Earth; By uniting these mountains, of opposite polarity in prayer and spiritual energy, we will restore a balance that has been lost on our planet in these modern times. Very successful ceremonies have already been performed here in North America by Blue Thunder.
In 2004, Blue Thunder, conducted a series of Medicine Wheel Ceremonies to honor the Earth and all creation. The Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, in Wyoming, and Big Bear Lake in California, became the hubs of these multicultural events. Blue Thunder envisioned that all of mankind would celebrate the blessings of the Earth together. These Medicine Wheel Ceremonies demonstrated how sacred mountains and waterways worked together to bring harmony to our Mother Earth. These ceremonies brought back the balance that restored the waters, rebalanced the super Yellowstone volcanic energy, supporting nature's abundance within the land
through love, peace and prayer.

Blue Thunder, Bennie E. LeBeau, an Elder of the Eastern Shoshone Nation, shares his cultural ceremonial way of life by healing Mother Earth's sacred sites. What he represents is walking the path of sacredness that brings the Earth healing wisdom and knowledge, through indigenous teachings about the
environment, for all nations to share and consider.

Eagle & Condor Nations the Dance of Oneness Gathering
June 18th to June 21st
West Yellowstone, Montana, Old Airport
Setting Camp June 15th to June 17th
The tribes are coming to the Yellowstone. Many around the world feel that the prophecies of peace and the coming forth of the 5th world are going to be fulfilled. The Bird Tribe (Angels) has told Joe Crane,
www.atouchofangels.net that this will, indeed, happen. They tell us that a new Eden-like garden will return to the Earth if we bring the world together. We will soon contact Elders within the Dali Lama's organization as well as contact Elders from Africa.
We ask all peoples and all tribes who cannot travel to the Yellowstone to enter into their own dances of Oneness. We will send out the patterns of gathering given to us by the angels that people all around the world can use to join us in our Grand Formation at Yellowstone. This will connect people all around the world together along with the Bird Tribes, who will assist humanity in bring forth the first vibrations of Peace, spoken of in the prophecies of the First Nations since ancient times.

Grand Teton Medicine Wheel Ceremony - August 8th, 2008
Near the Grand Teton National Park site will be announce after Permit has
been signed at Moose, Wyoming.
The Indigenous Nations of the Americas are being called to the Yellowstone area from June 18th to the 21st, 2008. Along with this event will be the call for a great Gathering of Nations to unite in Oneness in the Grand Tetons of Wyoming on August 8, 2008 (known as the Great Time of Peace 8:8:8). For this second ceremony, Blue Thunder will be asking for blessings of support from his Shoshone Nations and all other Nations that will be attending from the Black, White, Yellow and Red Nations.. It will be at this event that the Eagle and Condor Nations will be called to gather together, once again in oneness, to dance the Spirit Dance. Calling out to their ancestors to join them as we all continue to heal the Environment with
our sacred dances giving love to all of creation healing the Spirit of Creation in all things: The spirit of the trees, rocks, animals, birds, fish, insects, micro organisms and many more, all of creation has songs
within the Indigenous Nations as we dance sing the songs. This alone will heal the Environments. This dance was once known as the Spirit Dance done in a circle healing the spirit of all the Plant Kingdoms, Animal Kingdom's within the Elements of the Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. to complete the healing of the Grand Teton Medicine Wheel.

Carol Proudfoot-Edgar Offers Classes

A host of shamanic classes, including Bear Medicine workshops for women, is offered in coming months by Carol Proudfoot-Edgar. She writes:

Dear Friends,
As Spring returns to the Northern Hemisphere, I am reminded why so many of our Ancestors depicted Spring in figures symbolic of fertility, verdant joy, and hope. The very air is charged with electricity and many of us find ourselves shucking the husk of Winter and starting to muse: What shall I do or become now in this time of Possibility.

I invite you to consider participating in some Circle or some workshop that assists you in deepening your connection with the many Spirits of Nature and with your fellow pilgrims on the shamanic path. Just now all of Nature is animated by the fertile life force. When we entwine ourselves with this force, we are inspired and strengthened in all that we do or all that we seek to become.

I want to remind you of some forthcoming workshops being offered in unique natural habitats....Circling within them, we shall deepen our understanding of stone, tree, water, animal and weather spirits. Within the Redwoods are medicine wheel, labyrinth, and trails that take us to the deeper withinness of the forest or to the promontory from which we view the mountains around us.

These workshops have the option of commuting or lodging at the center. For those needing assistance, scholarships are available.

Complete information is available at my website: http://www.shamanicvisions.com/08workshops/index.html

You can also contact the Coordinator for Shamanic Visions, Pirkko Miller swanwoman@kconline.com.

As Sun casts more and more light in these coming days and months, may we bless, and be blessed by, all the Possibilities for growth and flowering presented to us. And support one another as we transform possibility into actuality.

Love and blessings,
Carol Proudfoot-Edgar

Gregg Braden Has New Book

Our Beliefs Are Being Shattered

By Gregg Braden

(Excerpt from The Spontaneous Healing of Belief: Shattering The Paradigm Of False Limits- Hay House 2008)
Fact: The Universe is made of a shared matrix of energy that underlies our physical world!
Fact: Belief is a language that "speaks" to this matrix!
Scientific evidence now reveals that belief affects everything from the healing of our bodies to the atoms of Reality itself! What could be more important than understanding how to use such an awesome power to reverse disease, create peace and abundance and even change Reality itself? In a world where the greatest crises of recorded human history now threaten our survival, the stakes couldn't be higher.
For a scientist, what could be any stranger than discovering that by simply watching our world in one place we've somehow changed what happens somewhere else? Yet this is precisely what the revelations of the new physics are showing us. As far back as 1935, Noble Prize-winning physicist Albert Einstein acknowledged just how unsettling such quantum effects can be, calling them "spooky action at a distance." In a paper that he co-authored with noted physicists Boris Podolsky and Nathan Rosen, he stated, "No reasonable definition of reality could be expected to permit this [action at a distance]."
Today, it's precisely these bizarre anomalies that have ignited a powerful revolution in the way we think of ourselves, as well as the universe. For the better part of the 20th century, scientists struggled to understand what quantum strangeness is telling us about the way reality works. It's a documented fact, for example, that human consciousness influences quantum energy-the stuff everything is made of-under certain conditions. And that fact has opened the door to a possibility that pushes the limits of what we've been led to believe about our world in the past. A growing body of evidence now suggests that these unexpected effects are more than just isolated exceptions. The question is how much more?
Are the effects of observers, influencing their experiments, actually a powerful window into the kind of reality we live in? And, if so, then we must ask, "Are those effects also telling us who we are within that reality?" The answer to both questions is "yes." These are precisely the conclusions that the new discoveries suggest.
There Are No Watchers
Scientists have shown that while we may think we're only watching and observing our world, in fact, it's impossible for us to simply "watch" anything. Whether our attention is focused on a quantum particle during a laboratory experiment or anything else, from the healing of our body to the success of our careers and relationships, we have expectations and beliefs about what we're watching. Sometimes we're consciously aware of our expectations and beliefs. But oftentimes we're not. It's these inner experiences that become part of what we're focused on. By "watching" we become part of what we're watching.
In the words of physicist John Wheeler, that makes us all "participators." The reason? When we focus our attention on a given place in a moment of time, we involve our consciousness. And in the vast field of consciousness it appears that there's no clear boundary that tells us where we stop and the rest of the world begins. When we think of the world this way, it becomes clear why the ancients believed that everything is connected. As energy, it is.
As scientists continue to explore just what it means to be participators, new evidence points to an inescapable conclusion: That we live in an interactive reality where we change the world around us by changing what happens inside of us while we're watching-our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.
Belief Code 1: Experiments show that the focus of our attention changes reality itself and suggest that we live in an interactive universe.
The Implication: >From the healing of disease and the length of our lives, to the success of our careers and relationships, everything that we experience as "life" is directly linked to what we believe.
The Bottom Line: To change our lives and relationships, heal our bodies and bring peace to our families and nations requires a simple yet precise shift in the way we use belief.
For those who accept what science has led us to believe for the last 300 years, even to consider that our inner experience can affect reality, is nothing short of heresy.
The very idea blurs the safety zone that has traditionally separated science and spirituality-and us from our world. Rather than thinking of ourselves as passive victims in a place where, for example, things just "happen" for no apparent reason, such a consideration now places us squarely in the driver's seat of life.
In this position we find ourselves faced with undeniable evidence confirming that we are the architects of our reality. With this confirmation, we also find that we have the power to make disease obsolete and relegate war to a memory of our past. Suddenly, the key to catapult our greatest dreams into reality is within our reach. It all comes back to us. Where do we fit in the universe? What is it that we're supposed to be doing in life?
The False Assumptions of Science
The transformation that the reality revolution brings to our lives has erupted with a force unmatched by anything in the past because the same discoveries that have sparked the questions have also led to the conclusion that the "facts" we've trusted for 300 years to explain the universe and our role in it are flawed. They're based upon two assumptions that have been proven to be false.
False Assumption 1: The space between "things" is empty. New discoveries now tell us that this is simply not true.
False Assumption 2: Our inner experiences of feeling and belief have no effect upon the world beyond our bodies. This has been proven absolutely false, as well.
Paradigm-shattering experiments, published in leading- edge, peer-reviewed journals reveal that we're bathed in a field of intelligent energy that fills what used to be thought of as empty space. Beyond any reasonable doubt, additional discoveries show that this field responds to us-it literally rearranges itself-in the presence of our heart-based feelings and beliefs to become the healing of our bodies and the peace of our world! And this is the revolution that changes everything.
With these and similar discoveries in mind, we must ask ourselves the question that is perhaps the most revealing of all: Are we born with the natural ability to create and modify our bodies and the world? If so, then we must be willing to ask an even more difficult question: What responsibility do we have to use our birth-given power in the presence of what are arguably the greatest threats to the future of our lives, our world, and even our species?

A great message from the heart
By Lee A. Forrester "Little Dove" (Torrington, WY)
“PathFinder has produced a wonderful work that comes from a quiet place in the heart.
So many of us are so out of touch with all of the natural goings on around us. We forget that if we are quiet we can learn from everything that Nature provides for us. This book prepares the reader to open his heart and mind to learning from and giving back to the Natural world we live in. I enourage readers to read this book and then find time to spend quiet in some natural setting. Practice what is taught here and you will find that your perspective of yourself, everyone else and nature will change. You will find you appreciate those "little" things much more. I see a squirrel bouncing across my telephone line. He beckens me to come and play in the snow. Enjoy this book.”

By Croitiene ganMoryn "Cree" (Ocala, FL)
“Mr. Ewing has a wonderful way of putting spirituality into writing. This book isn't just about healing from a distance but healing in general and, I think, mostly about healing ourselves. Seek God, find yourself! What a concept, huh? Great book!”

Five Stars (out of 5 stars) Amazon.com Review
By Nymphidium
“This is a book that I feel belongs in everyone's library...especially people who are involved in healing work or would like to experience more of a connection with their own spirit and the living world around us. This book taught me a lot about how to REALLY listen and tune in...and how to develop strong caring, compassion and respect for the other beings who share my space. There are a lot of wonderful healing techniques and stories that you won't find in other books on similar topics that make this book inspiring and very enjoyable. The down-to-earth tone the author used in writing this book makes it very engaging and approachable... What else could I say...I highly recommend it!”

Ascension Test: Unfolding

How does the flower know when to grow? The scientists will tell us that an amalgam of precise conditions occur, such as temperature of the soil, length of the day, amounts of moisture, for the seed to grow. Then, the plant follows its DNA programming. It sounds so …. Precise. But, again: How does the flower grow? How does it “know” when to sprout, when to send out shoots, or how to send them? Or how many leaves to put forth? Or what is the proper height? DNA? Or God’s breath? That secret code is within each of us: our impetus for unfolding. We are grateful for, and nurture our gratitude as the proper “soil” for its abundance!

Aho.
