How to Journey (Reiki Shaman I)

This is a foundation level class, which is required for the
Reiki Shamanism courses.

Prerequisites: None

Substitutes for this class:
Experience in journeying, or basic shamanism courses from the Foundation for Shamanic studies.

This is a one day experiential seminar/workshop on the shamanic journey by Jim PathFinder Ewing teaches students how to journey. There are no prerequisites.
It is basic instruction that includes a brief background on viewing the world from a shaman’s perspective, including seeing “reality” as lower world, middle world, and upper world. It includes descriptions of how to “see” using the drum to journey (no drum required), the similarities of astral travel, Dreamtime and shamanic journey using the drum, and exercises for students to journey themselves.

In the class, PathFinder will drum for students to help them learn to journey and find their power animals. It is recommended that they purchase CDs or tapes of drumming to further their practice. It is not meant to ensure proficiency, but to introduce the student so he or she can learn at his or her own pace.

This is an introductory course so that students may take the next level Reiki Shamanism II course. It is not meant to compete with or take the place of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies “Way of the Shaman” Basic Shamanism class.

Recommended reading:
“Healing Plants & Animals from a Distance: Curative Principles and Applications” by Jim PathFinder Ewing (Findhorn Press, 2008), which includes describes the shamanic journey, as well as gives examples of shamanic journeys.

“Reiki Shamanism: A Guide to Out-of-Body Healing” by Jim PathFinder Ewing (Findhorn Press, 2008), which incorporates the shamanic journey and Reiki as a healing practice and explains how Reiki is a form of shamanism.

Students are advised to bring a pillow to sit on, a mat or blanket to lie on while journeying, and a pen and notebook to record notes and observations.

No certificate is issued for this course.

Note:
We are not affiliated in any way with the Foundation For Shamanic Studies, but highly recommend its courses.

Class size is limited to allow individualized instruction.

One day, hours: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Lena. Lunch and snacks provided. Cost: $95.
